Mr. Prashant S. Jain of India Domain Web Services flew into Hyderabad from the US with the intention of starting a web-related business. Jain, an MS in networking and communication from Wright State University, had a lot of experience with the Net, having worked as a webmaster for Wright State University and the product development wing of Microsoft.
He started off his one Internet consultancy in US, but was drawn back home. "I came into the country over a year ago with the purpose of getting into Internet access business, but got tired of waiting and decided to get into web site development and e-commerce," Jain says.
India Domain, set up in October 1997, quickly shot into the limelight through aggressive marketing and quality service. "Unlike our competitors, we tell companies how to use the Net for achieving their objectives," Jain says. India Domain's cutting edge is e-commerce. For example, it recently started a virtual online grocery store called Chennaibazaar and plans to follow it up with another one in Hyderabad. Now, with over 100 Web sites to its credit, India Domain shares the leadership mantle of the Hyderabad Internet Market. India Domain is focusing on selling e-commerce solutions to the corporate sector. Jain of India Domain is planning to put up a string of portal sites (similar to Yahoo) for major Indian cities.
