Domain, one of the early entrants into the dotcom segment in
the mid-90s, is all set to change its business plan. The
company is now eyeing more market in the development and
e-solutions market. "It's not that there is no market at
all in the dotcom segment. But it has definitely come down. We
have our early dotcom clients still with us and we are
handling their websites and maintenance of websites,"
India Domain manager (marketing and communications) Balaji R
Iyer told The Times of India.
The
company, which has already offered web-enabled management
information system (e-MIS) to Lawrence and Mayo, one of the
leading optical lenses company in the country, is now planning
to offer management system to leading schools. "We have
readied a school management system which we will be launching
this year. We will network topline schools in the first year
and then look for fresh market,: Iyer explained.

The
company is eyeing about 20-25 schools in Hyderabad in the
first year to deploy the solution. "The system will cost
anywhere between Rs.75,000 to Rs.1.5 lakh depending on the
modules the schools wants to use. Budgets of this size will be
available only with the topline schools," he said.
The
school management system is aimed at web-enabling the
activities of schools and providing an interface between the
school management, parents, teachers and the students.
"There are also other issues like various vendors who
offer services and material to schools. By providing modules
for this, the system also handles the commerce part of the
school management," Iyer said.

"Now,
we have no relation with Asia Online. The company's business
model continues to be the same even after Asia Online's exit.
We have learnt a lot during our association with that company
